The College of Alice & Peter Tan (CAPT) is an undergraduate residential college in the National University of Singapore. It offers a 2-year living-learning programme (the University Town College Programme) to students across all faculties and schools in NUS. The programme is designed to equip students to think critically, appreciate complexity, communicate effectively and become constructive and responsible members of the community. CAPT emphasizes community engagement and active citizenship and provides a wide range of opportunities for experiential learning, both in and outside the classroom.

CALL FOR FACULTY FELLOWS (open to NUS teaching staff only)

The College of Alice & Peter Tan is inviting applications for the position of Faculty Fellow commencing in January or July of 2019. NUS teaching staff who are interested to teach in the University Town College Programme and to contribute to the scholarly life of the College, are welcome to apply.

Fellows will have teaching responsibilities in the College curriculum, which is constructed around small group seminar-style modules for first and second year students. These multi-disciplinary modules cover a diverse range of topics, but have in common a focus on developing critical thinking, breadth of knowledge and an informed perspective of issues that are relevant to society.

Faculty Fellows will remain members of their home Faculty/Department and will be offered joint appointments in the College. Benefits and obligations will vary with the appointment.

We are seeking faculty with a combination of the following characteristics and interests:

  • Enthusiasm for teaching and a strong undergraduate teaching portfolio
  • Commitment to mentoring and interacting with students outside the classroom
  • Evidence of research activity and reputation; interest in and aptitude for applying scholarly approaches to teaching
  • Interest in collaborative (multi-/interdisciplinary) teaching, and in working in teams
