AY2017/2018

In Academic Year 2017/2018, there were eight Capstone projects involving 34 students. This is the seventh year for capstone projects and we have on board eight new community partners. “Recapturing Food Waste” is the first environmental Capstone in the College and our students collaborated with Nanhua High School to develop and run a sustainability mentorship programme for high school students. A second team is working with a crisis shelter, Casa Raudha Women Home, to help develop a training curriculum to teach youths how to avoid abusive relationships. The third team is collaborating with Persatuan Pemudi Islam Singapura (PPIS) to improve the lives of foster children. Two teams worked with the elderly residents in Toh Yi Drive through Toh Yi Community Garden and Hannah Presbyterian Services to find out their eating habits and food stories. The sixth team partnered Women in Recovery Association (WIRA) to understand and evaluate the drug recovery programmes in Singapore. The seventh team worked with Methodist Children and Youth Centre (MCYC) to help facilitate healthy emotional development in foster children. The last team worked alongside with the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and Singapore Boys’ Home, to use music as a medium to mentor youths-at-risk.
