‘IN CONVERSATION’ with Dr Victor Tang (Chairman, I3NSIGHT & former VP of IBM China) – “On Leaders and Leadership: What and How”

The goal of this session is to teach aspiring leaders three core competencies. One is how to think about leadership and its fundamental principles. Two is how to sharpen and improve their leadership skills. Three is how to become a more consistently effective leader. We present our actionable Leadership Method, a framework that integrates all three competencies and research findings. Our method is grounded on our conviction and experience that everyone can become a more effective leader. We begin with the work of scholars on how they conceptualize leadership. Standing on their shoulders, we argue that leadership is a reciprocal social process between leaders and followers who have shared and complementary aspirations. Dr Tang discussed the systemic dynamics of this process and why organizational effectiveness is an emergent property of effective leadership.
