CAPT Student Symposium 2016

The College of Alice & Peter Tan Student Symposium (CAPTISS), which take places once every two years, is one of the College’s flagship events. This Student Symposium brings together students, experts and presenters from many different backgrounds and projects to discuss a central theme.

CAPTISS 2016 showcased a wide array of student projects and efforts focusing on ‘Effective and sustainable youth involvement in Community Engagement’. CAPTISS 2016 aimed to inspire and empower youth to work toward addressing challenges in their communities by providing a platform for students and community experts to discuss, share and reflect on their experiences, ideas and best practices.

In this edition, there were a total of 400 participants from 27 regional institutions of higher education and community-related enterprises and organisations and 10 panels with over 50 presenters, including 24 oral and 7 poster presentations of student projects from NUS, Yale-NUS, Duke-NUS, NTU, and 6 regional universities. Participants also had the opportunity to hear from two invited keynote speakers, Ms Melissa Kwee, CEO, National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, and Mr C Kunalan, Inaugural Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee Member, on their experiences in engaging youths.
