The CAPT10 Carnival was held on 9th March 2022 and was one of the many events to commemorate CAPT’s 10th anniversary. The carnival embraced the CAPT10 theme of “Celebrating the Past, Embracing the Present, Envisioning the Future”, and provided a fun night of memories for all CAPTains, past and present.
The evening began when A/P Gary Tan, Master of CAPT, led the opening ceremony and warmly welcomed familiar faces such as A/P Adeline Seow, Deputy Dean of Students, A/P Alberto Corrias, A/P Anne Raffin and our esteemed Rector, Mr J Y Pillay. This was followed by a presentation Meng Wee, the Director of External Affairs of the 10th College Students’ Committee, on how Covid-19 impacted life in CAPT and the importance of Class Ambassadors acting as a bridge for the college to communicate with CAPT alumni.
In the carnival, all five neighbourhoods set up booths that proudly featured their neighbourhood’s history. Several interest groups were also featured, including CAPT’s Baking Club, Cooking Club, CAPT Coffee and HanDIYcraft. The CAPT10 team also took participants down memory lane with an exhibition of CAPT memorabilia and photos from past events. The presence of more than 150 alumni added a meaningful touch to the festivities as they had the opportunity to interact with the Fellowship and current CAPTains.
The highlight of the carnival was the live food station and inflatable games. To create new memories for CAPTains, multiple large-scale inflatable games were brought in, much to the pleasure of all participants. CAPTains also feasted on prata and churros served fresh by the live food stations. To top it off, participants that managed to complete the challenges by engaging in all the offerings available gained a chance to win prizes sponsored by the CAPT Fellows.
We hope that the carnival brought smiles and happy memories to the residents and the alumni who came back. We would like to thank everyone who assisted in the different booths at the carnival and made the event a successful one despite prevailing Covid-19 restrictions.
