CAPT Student Leader Action Mentorship (CAPTSLAM) was first pioneered by CAPT in collaboration with Tanglin Secondary School. In this fourth iteration, CAPTSLAM 4.0 sparked a new partnership with Queensway Secondary School (QSS). This collaboration involved 18 mentors from CAPT and 24 students (or mentees) from QSS who came together for weekly sessions which culminated in an overseas trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Through the weekly sessions planned by the mentors, CAPTSLAM strived to encourage personal growth in both mentors and mentees. It also worked on creating a safe environment for both parties to learn from each other. Mentees picked up soft skills, made new friends and found role models. They were also inspired to dream beyond scoring in examinations.
“CAPTSLAM was a very good experience for me. It has helped me see my potential to grow in areas like public speaking, confidence, and how to work better with people I don’t know. I also learnt how to organise activities and had many other takeaways. I really like my mentors and am really grateful for them. They were very nice and patient with us throughout this whole journey…”
