Freshmen Orientation Camp Community Engagement Day 2022

29 Jul 2022

CAPTains on environment Trail with International Coastal Cleanup Singapore (ICCS).

Held on the second day of the Freshmen Orientation Camp, Community Engagement Day 2022 (CE Day 2022) aimed to introduce freshmen to the idea of community engagement. The theme of CE Day 2022 was “re(act)”, which encouraged freshmen to re-examine their perceptions and optics of CE through their experiences on CE Day. CE Day served as a catalyst for freshmen to seek to understand those beyond themselves.

In CE Day 2022, we worked with 17 community partners to curate 15 trails; some of the trails included interaction with the disabled community, ex-offenders, and even the people involved in fish farming! We were also privileged to invite Mr Stefan Phang, Global Director, ESG & Creating Shared Value, Diversey International to grace our finale event, and to share his experiences in the community sphere.FOC CE Day Finale with Guest Speaker Mr Stefan Phang.

Here is what one of our Trail Leaders said about his experience in CE Day:

“My main goal was to instill empathy and initiative into the participants and to allow them to see the community engagement is more than just a programme, but that we can apply the skills and knowledge learnt into our everyday life as well!”
