Dr. Syed Manzoorul Islam is Professor of English at the University of Dhaka, and an award winning fiction writer. He is also an art critic and has curated Bangladesh art exhibitions at home and abroad.
Dr Islam’s reading of The Structure took a more recent theoretical approach, based on ideas generated by postmodernism. He contended that The Structure, by internalizing contradictions, ambiguities and double meanings in its discursive frame gives a history of science that is pluralistic and open-ended. What he intended to do to is essentially propose a ‘third way’ of reading The Structure to arrive at an understanding of Kuhn’s re-visioning of older historical models of viewing scientific process and progress, as well as ambiguities it is accused of.
