Master’s Tea Series – AY2016/2017 Semester 2

A total of 19 Master’s Tea sessions were held this semester as part of CAPT’s Master’s Tea Series. This semester, the topics covered by our invited speakers ran the gamut from family and societal structures within Singapore (Understanding Resilient Neighbourhoods in Singapore) and language revitalisation (The Last Speakers of Kristang), to the experience of individuals with chronic diseases (Navigating a Life with a Chronic Disease: Lived Experiences of Adults with Multiple Sclerosis) and hot-button global political issues (Brexit: What does it mean for Britain, the EU, and the world?).

The speakers invited to share their insights on the above topics are, respectively: Dr Leong Chan-Hoong, Head of Social Lab at the Institute of Policy Studies; Mr Bernard Mesenas, primary language consultant for the Kodrah Kristang revitalisation initiative and one fo the last native speakers of Kristang, and Mr Kevin Martens Wong, fourth-year CAPTain and founder/director of Kodrah Kristang; Dr Miho Asano, certified wellness coach and rehabilitation scientist who has worked extensively with adults with chronic diseases; and Mr Joergen Oerstroem Moeller, former diplomat and current Visiting Senior Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies Yusof Ishak Institute.
