SI-STEER Nepal

15 May 2018 - 29 May 2018

Article written by Benson Leom Meng Suan

SI-STEER Nepal is the first STEER trip in the College of Alice and Peter Tan (CAPT) which is student-initiated and co-organized with fellows – Ms Wong Soon Fen and Dr Kankana Mukhopadhyay. Partnering with Ridge View Residential College (RVRC), this trip revolved around the theme of “Development, Dilemmas, Design“. RVRC lend its expertise in sustainability and environmental conservation, adding another perspective to this trip.

The Social Innovation (SI) Wing considers this a unique opportunity to learn about social innovation in a foreign context, and more importantly, in practice. The itinerary comprised visits to incubation hubs, social enterprises and local entrepreneurs to explore how social innovation is integrated within their business models. Not forgetting community engagement, we also engaged with the various local communities and beneficiaries of the social programs conducted by such businesses.
