Redesigning the Needs Analysis Framework for Nan Hua High School Service Learning Club

This Capstone project aimed to educate secondary school students from Nan Hua High School’s Service Learning Club (NHHS-SLC) about community development and appropriate methods to do so. The group utilised the ‘Needs Analysis Framework’, which is a tool used to uncover hidden needs and confirm previously suspected needs of a community.

The group customised a robust and well-received Needs Analysis Framework for the school. Focus group discussions, online webinars and reenactment of engagement sessions were used to guide students through theories of community development and best practices for engagement. The secondary school students also deduced the essential characteristics of a needs analysis, allowing them to understand how the framework can aid their engagement with the elderly of Xin Yuan Community Care, the school’s community partner.
