Project Jiak Simi: Food Stories of Golden Kismis Residents

Social participation is key for active ageing and it has a positive impact on both physical and mental health. In this project, the team collaborated with Toh Yi Residents Committee and Hannah Presbyterian Services to examine the food stories – social experiences associated with food – in one of the elderly resident blocks in Toh Yi Drive. Through in-depth interviews, the team investigated the eating habits of elderly in relation to their participation in the community and/or other possible factors, and propose measures that can be undertaken by Residents Committee to further engage the residents.
